Most Memorable Running event
Winning the NCAA 1500. I remember running the whole race, just waiting to kick. I knew before I stepped on the track that no one would be able to respond when I hit the mark for my kick. I hoped that someone would challenge me because I knew that I was ready to run fast.
Favorite place to run
I like to run on trails for distance runs, but ultimately, the track.
Favorite workout
5 x 1 mile with 3 minutes recovery at 7000 ft training with coach (Joe) Vigil. My best mile repeat session was averaging 5:03/mile with the last mile being 4:54.
Why did you start running?
Because my father ran and I wanted to be like him.
Favorite Race
I love Millrose Games in New York City. The atmosphere is second-to-none with all the cameras flashing in your face as you run, and the crowd is great. Outdoors, I like running at Drake Relays. The crowd there is always great and it is tradition since Cami (sister) graduated from Drake.
Other Activities besides Running
Swim, Weight Training/Plyos, Biking and Rollerblading.
What has Running done for you?
Running has brought many great people and experiences in my life. I have been able to travel all over the US and other countries because of my ability to run. It paid for my education and gave me the opportunity to train with some of the greatest coaches in the United States (Dr. Joe Vigil and Joe Clark Jr.). But most of all it is just a way to for me to connect with my spirit. I simply love to run.
Currently living and training in Bowling Green, Ohio with my sister, Cami and brother Bradley (in the summer). I plan to run in the US National XC meet next year (2003) as well as outdoor track. A comeback is definitely in store for the future!
